organic clean lipstick manila

From peachy nudes to vampy reds, electric pinks, or plum purples – nothing perks up lipstick junkies more than our gorgeous pouts for the day. But your love affair with lipsticks need not end just because you’re attempting to make the switch to clean beauty.

While many mainstream lipstick brands tend to contain harmful parabens, pthalates, and other nasties, more purpose-driven beauty brands are emerging to whip up products that are eco-friendly, natural, and packed with organic ingredients.

Lipstick is particularly tricky since it’s easily ingested! So we dug around in Manila and discovered these non-toxic, safe lipsticks that are made from natural or organic ingredients, which are both beautifying and nourishing for your precious puckers.

  1. Human Nature ColorCreme Lipstick

Always an advocate of natural beauty, Human Nature lipsticks are made from 100% natural ingredients and cruelty-free mineral hues, which means they were not tested on animals.

These affordable lippies are perfect for daily use. While these aren’t the most long-lasting lipsticks since they tend to wear off after eating or drinking, it’s a small trade-off for a truly clean lipstick product from a proudly Filipino brand.

Its ColorCreme line gets its natural moisture from cocoa butter, sunflower seed oil, passion fruit seed oil and natural vitamin E. Its cocoa butter ingredient melts upon contact with the lips, which makes its soothing and moisturizing properties easily absorbed by the skin.

Price: Php 325
Shades: ColorCreme comes in 4g tube and luscious colors of Crimson Glaze, Passion Candy, Lucky in Love, Coral Charm, Pink Smoothie and Coral Kiss. If you’re into liquid lipsticks, you can also try Human Nature Velvet Color Liquid Lipstick which is available in Blushing Peach, Pastel Rose and Poppy Berry.
Available In: Human Nature stores and via dealers nationwide, Trinoma, Gateway, UP Town Center, Fishermall, Shopwise, Robinsons, Rustan’s, and online at Human Nature Online Shop and Lazada

2. Jane Iredale PureMoist Lip Colour

Vegan beautyholics, rejoice! This Australian cosmetic brand definitely took it up a few notches with its vegan and gluten-free lipsticks! Jane Iredale’s PureMoist Lip color is among them and offers gorgeous shades that are fairly moisturizing on the lips.

We also love the fact that it tastes yummy! It’s made from everything our palates would love such as moringa butter, coffee seed extract, avocado oil, and organic pomegranate and blackberry extracts. These natural oils and superfruit extracts help protect and nourish our puckers to help achieve those soft, velvety lips we all so covet.

Let’s not forget Jane Iredale is a product made for women by a woman, Jane, who believes that makeup should allow women to embrace and enhance their natural beauty.

Price: Php 1,457
Shades: A lot of vivid shades to choose from – 29 hues! Check it out here.
Available in: Rustan’s Makati, Shangri-La and Cebu and online via Lazada

Burts Bees lipstick is known for its bright hues and moisture that can last up to eight hours.  Offered in 18 shades, the creamy lip color glides on smoothly, while moisturizing lips and providing a luminous finish.

This product definitely feels as though it’s on the oilier side, so it’s ideal for women with dry lips. It also uses recyclable packaging made with natural ingredients including moringa oil and raspberry seed oil that helps soften and condition the lips.

Beyond being organic and sustainable, Burt’s Bees believes that the skin – as the body’s largest organ – should be nourished the way we would our body and that skincare should be a delightful sensory experience each time. No wonder local celebrities like Kelly Misa and Lovi Poe and professional makeup artists love using Burts Bees.

4. Pili Beauty Lipsticks

Most of us know pili as these delicious sugar-coated, creamy nuts from Bicol. What an organic agricultural advocate discovered is that natural oils from the pili tree’s fruits and resin can also improve the skin’s elasticity, firmness, and moisture.

Enter, Pili Lipsticks. A homegrown brand that used 100% natural pili in their lipsticks. Thir products also contain elemi oil, which is rich in Vitamin E, antioxidants and anti-bacterial properties, to help us nourish our lips while also beautifying them.

What’s fantastic is that its makers help and support the pili farmers in Bicol with sustainable livelihood and literacy programs. Homegrown, sustainable and eco-friendly – this local brand makes a big contender on our list.

Price: Php 672
Shades: Rouge, Latte, Bordeaux, Classic, Hot Pink, Pink Honey, Magenta, Copper, Brick, and Plum
Available in: Online via Pili Beauty, Beauty MNL, Calyxta
