The healthy living and fitness movement is undoubtedly gaining steam in the Philippines, but one area often overlooked locally is: beauty.
Filipino media and local beauty bloggers tend to be the mouthpieces for big-name beauty brands with the marketing firepower from their owners — multinational behemoths such as Unilever and Proctor & Gamble. While green beauty brands such as Ilia and RMS Beauty have surged in popularity in the West, the green beauty movement is still in it’s infancy in the Philippines, which is the path forward in terms of primping and preening the holistic way.
Why is green beauty important? Since the skin is the body’s largest organ, it’s vital we apply only the cleanest and safest products, particularly if these products are intended for long-term use. Many mainstream cosmetics products contain potentially harmful chemicals which are absorbed into our bloodstream through our skin.
However, a few local brands are blazing the local trail in attempt to make green beauty mainstream in the Philippines. A couple foreign brands are available too, and and it’s high time we make ourselves familiar with them. So we rounded up some of our favorite green beauty brands and products for your make-up kit revamp!
